Localization Components
Localization encompasses a full spectrum of a product – not just the language that describes it or content it contains. A product must be available in the correct currency; measurements need to be adapted to the format used in the target market; date format, if not correctly accounted for, can create great confusion (12.5.2016 – are we talking about Dec. 5 or May 12?); layout should account for bidirectional design; target audience must relate to graphics and not find colors culturally offensive.
Localization ensures that the following components are properly carried over into the target locale (not an exhaustive list):
- Textual Content
- Layout
- Graphics/Multimedia
- Fonts
- Locale Data
- Character Sets
- Currency
- Measurements
- Date Format
